I painted a turtle! The background needs to be fixed because nonmatching black paint is no good, but other than that I think it turned out really well! The finished product is 4x6 inches, painted with gouache, and I did the details in pen.
this is a drawing based on the song Black by Okkervil River, and more loosely based on the characters in their Black Sheep Boy album
The girl is Cynda Moore, probably the female lead on the album, and I imagine her as a sort of quiet, sardonically intelligent woman with a cloud of dark hair, glasses, and wide, dark eyes. The boy is the Black Sheep Boy who I haven’t given a name because he’s not named in the album. I imagine him as having an unruly mop of blonde hair and sharp handsome features, angry brows, etc.
This needs a lot of work as her anatomy is a bit off and his face AND anatomy are just jacked up, and I think the composition could be more interesting too
anyway yeah idk I like how Cynda’s face turned out
more stuff from the art class. This is a project where we were supposed to combine a life drawing of several objects- for me, a slingshot, a railroad spike, and a peice of cactus skeleton.
The drawing was about how it is to grow up in the southwest, and how it is to grow up wanting to be a boyish person, but not being good at stereotypically masculine things (which is why the slingshot would break if it were a real object)
found these…these are from the art class I took last year. It’s probably the pinnacle of my artistic achievement tbh.
Anonymous asked: Do you take commissions?
Wow thanks anon, that’s super flattering!
Actually, I’m not sure. I honestly think I’m not good enough to charge money, but if you want to request something from me, I’ll do it for free, as long as it’s not too involved.
my internet started working again YAY! so I’m going to share this little picture I just drew
The cyclops girl is named Daisy, I doodled her in class the other day and now I really like her. She’s about 13, she is extremely optimistic and happy all the time, and she’s mute. I think this might be the beginning of that circus in the 70’s thing I keep thinking about writing?
The boy doesn’t have a name yet, but I’ve been drawing him forever. He’s 11, and he’s one of those adventurous, habitually dirty boys who’s constantly getting into what boy’s adventure novels call “scrapes”. He’s a lot like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes, clearly. I’m thinking he runs away to join the circus one day…
